Artist Statement

I create imaginative rituals performed in a Dreamscape. They are informed by religious/shamanistic rituals of India and Japan, visions from dreams and meditations, childhood plays, and manga stories.

All of my life I have been presented with dualities: life and sudden deaths in my family, concepts of dirtiness and cleanliness (and sin and purity) in Hindu and Shinto religions, my horoscope sign as Gemini, and my mother’s bipolar diagnosis. In Dreamscapes I try to stay in the middle to observe and heal within the rituals.
